We are a community-based organisation providing services to people in North East England with the aim of promoting an inclusive society.

We aim to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, mental health problems and those who are disadvantaged in being able to access services because they live in a rural location. We have advocacy and transport services including the Getabout Scheme.

Bright Red

Bright Red is a charity established to improve the lives and treatment of people with blood cancer across the north of England.

We aim to create the best environment for the treatment of patients with blood cancer, giving support to patients, their families and carers. With the introduction of our Blood Buddies groups, we hope to raise awareness and provide much-needed support in the community across our region.

Through investment in care, research and education we are striving to beat illnesses such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

Buddy_Cups is a support group for people whose lives have been affected by Breast Cancer and their family members. We are registered as a small charity and based in County Durham. We meet once a month at Hotel  Indigo Tinderbox in Elvet Durham.

Citizens Advice Northumberland

We work in partnership with Macmillan.

Our local team of Macmillan Benefit Caseworkers, specialise in supporting patients to work out what benefits, grants and other financial assistance they may be entitled to, help them access their entitlements and appeal against decisions, if required.

Our services can also provide advice in areas such as debt, housing, employment and fuel, through a variety of channels including telephone, digital and face-to-face.  We aim to answer all initial queries within 5 working days.

Children’s Cancer North

We are dedicated to making life better for children with cancer. We offer activities and support for children and families from across the North East and Cumbria who come to the Great North Children’s Hospital for cancer treatment. We also invest in revolutionary research carried out at the Wolfson Childhood Cancer Research Centre to find more effective and kinder treatments, helping children affected by cancer everywhere.

Living with and Beyond Cancer is a service managed by Cumbria CVS providing emotional and practical support for people affected by Cancer in North Cumbria. Cumbria CVS is an infrastructure organisation for third sector organisations in Cumbria

Coping with Cancer North East

Coping with Cancer North East has been established for 38 years, delivering wraparound care and support service for people affected by cancer. We currently support over 600 people and deliver our services across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear.
Our services include effective listening; hands-on therapies such as massage; complementary therapies such as Reiki, Reflexology and M Technique; Auricular Acupuncture; Counselling and Coaching. All of our services have a direct benefit on the emotional and mental health of our clients as they undergo psychological and physical changes with their bodies undergoing the trauma of a cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Essential Beauty Academy (North East) Limited 

We are a Social Enterprise who offers a range of beauty therapy training skills for Carers.

We also offer oncology massage training which allows people to give a relaxing and safe massage to cancer patients.

During the lockdown we ran a hugely successful course online- Heal Yourself, Build Your Future covering mental health and beauty therapy skills for those in a caring role.

Family Gateway is an award-winning North East charity that is committed to using local people to deliver enterprising community-led solutions to families, children, young people and communities. We provide bespoke support to families with complex lives who need help to improve the life chances.

Fighting All Cancers Together (Fact)

FACT provides support and social opportunities for all cancer patients, survivors, their family and friends to meet, form friendships, and build communities with others in similar positions to themselves.

FACT is working with adults and children to educate and raise public awareness of cancer related and healthy living issues. FACT delivers numerous awareness programmes in schools, colleges, workplaces and public buildings which are specifically tailored to suit their audience.

Great Aycliffe Cancer Support group

We help and support anyone affected by Cancer around County Durham and Darlington. We offer Support to patients, carers or relatives. The services we provide are mostly Free however depending on location of trips we might ask for a small donation. We provide the following:-
Patient Transport so patients can get to the hospitals for treatment
Food Hampers
Social outings
Respite breaks in our holiday home

We are back with our Monthly Meetings at Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre on the 1st Thursday of every month. We have Welfare advisors that help you claim the right benefits, Macmillan Grants and any other financial support. We are a fun social group who help each other, so no one is ever left on their own.

Live Well with Cancer

Live Well with Cancer was formed to meet the unmet needs of cancer patients in North Tyneside and the surrounding areas. We provide free workshops, events and support groups that empower people to improve their mental and physical wellbeing through proven techniques and strategies.

Hosted on evenings and weekends, we give people the help they need when they need it. Live Well with Cancer is run entirely by volunteers who have been personally affected by cancer. Every penny we raise goes back into our community to help people live with and beyond a cancer diagnosis.

Maggie’s Cancer Care

Maggie’s Newcastle is in the grounds of the Freeman Hospital and supports the whole of the North East and Cumbria.

Maggie’s isn’t part of the NHS – we’re an independent charity – but our centres are adjacent to major cancer hospitals across the UK.  
Our Cancer Support Specialists are NHS trained Specialist Oncology Nurses and have expert knowledge about cancer and treatment.

We also have psychologists and benefits advisors who are available for anyone with cancer and those close to them.

Alongside professional support, we offer stress-reducing activities including yoga, mindfulness and tai chi.  Our workshops, courses, one-to-one and group support help people to change the way they live with cancer.

Macmillan Joining the Dots County Durham is a free, personal service for people aged 18 and over who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Northumberland Cancer Support Group

The Northumberland Cancer Support Group, formed in 1986, is an independent charity for anyone affected by Cancer. Run entirely by volunteers, we aim to provide a safe, confidential place to be, with friendship and information, combined with social activities.

During the Covid-19 lockdown and since, we have been having ZOOM meetings, along with speakers, as we can no longer meet face to face at present. Our Care Coordinator is keeping in touch with members during this time. We are still accepting members.

Pancreatic Cancer Action

Pancreatic Cancer Action, was founded in 2010 by a rare survivor of the disease.

Nearly 10,000 men and women are newly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every year in the UK.

At Pancreatic Cancer Action, we are dedicated to saving lives by improving early diagnosis and improving the quality of survival for men and women diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the UK. 

PCA is a small charity with a huge voice shouting about much needed change for pancreatic cancer.

We fund innovative research, create awareness campaigns, lobby for change, produce educational programmes for medical professionals and provide comprehensive patient information.
